One of the destination absolutely to see when we are in Lucca is the famous Ponte del Diavolo or della Maddalena situated in Borgo a Mozzano.

To only 22 km of Lucca's centre, it is possible to admire in this village the medieval monument of the XI century d.C. Structure with a form of donkey, more than 90 meter long, it reaches her height of 18 meters thanks to her higher arch. The characteristic to make it unique to international level is the legend that it makes of background. In fact, the story goes that the bridge is built by devil. The history brings back that work was asked to a foreman, who realised the execution difficulties. The devil in person proposed to rebuild its in return of the soul of the first man who had through the bridge. The foreman accepted and the devil one night built the bridge, but the good man felt guilty and so, he went from the preacher to confess what happened and after listening the words, he suggested to make throughing the bridge to a dog. Therefore, the devil was deceived and he throw himself in the Serchio's waters without re-emerge but during fog's days is possible to see a dog that he throw the bridge and that something was throw in the water.
